Ms M went to Dr to check her neck
 Neck pain, tingling and some numbness
Dr said may be pinched nerve or muscle sprain
Take these muscle relaxants and a bunch of medications for pain

Ooh .. aaa... the neck still hurts
After one week of doctor’s visit
Ms M was feeling a whole lot sleepy
Medication is reducing pain-only for a bit

Second week- Dr visit again for Ms M
Well, doctor now prescribes physical Therapy and rest
“Here is our upstairs clinic you know
Their therapist are just the best”- Dr says

Ms M goes with a lot of hope
The therapist asks her questions really through
Assess her neck all good and then
Her therapist is typing for next half an hour

So just to cover the “bases” when typing
Therapist puts her on some fancy electro therapy machines
Later Ms M has no clue why on earth
She is on one of the bicycles - riding

For meeting later - all therapists gather
A stern look on their Managers’ face
He says “ some of you missed your productivity goal
Do documentation with patient and be efficient you know”

Ms M keeps going to therapist for 10 visits
Little bit improvement; co-pay is piling
Therapist is worried about his productivity goals
Manger is counting insurance reimbursements

Manager is asking “this” insurance company
Why are our reimbursement  getting so much scanty
Insurance guy says “that’s the “policy” what we follow
Sorry ..Well that is only what  insurance will pay”

Productivity- policy- reimbursement metrics
Insurance to doctor to therapist to patient
Everyone is walking on some pinched tight line
Poor Ms M suffers- but the circus keeps going

Ms M please take charge of your health
Ask questions- why and how and when
A good thorough actual analysis of your problem
You will be pain free- with correct treatment

Break this circus - feel and listen to your body
You have your own “patient’s rights”
Choose what’s best for you and your health
Go for second opinion if things don’t feel alright

So many good doctors and therapist
Exist all around you- Ms M- you know
It’s sometimes the “system” that needs a change
All it needs is a slight nudge from you
